Steve's notes:
The plan is to get everyone creating something that they won't have likely tried before, unless they were moved to have a go after my last demonstration... If people are able to bring a simple image or sketch along that they can use, that would be great. The simpler the image, the better. I normally recommend something like a small vase of flowers, a coffee pot and mug or wine bottles and wine glass... or something similar. As a rule of thumb, the more complicated and / or detailed the initial image, the more complicated and fragmented the final artwork will be - and the more time consuming it will be to complete. So, simple is good!

I shall bring a whole bunch of nice mountboard off-cuts with me that people can use. I find these really good to work on and will ordinarily use them for my demonstrations. But, if people would prefer to bring canvases, canvas boards or even watercolour paper, then they are welcome to do so... I wouldn't perhaps go any bigger than A3 though... not for the day, anyway.

I will also be recommending acrylic paints (and shall be bringing a few with me for those that aren't able to bring their own, to use). Acrylics have a good drying time allowing us plenty of time to get through all of the stages, and there is an element of control too. If people prefer to work in watercolour, they can, but it might create a different end product. I wouldn't recommend oils for the workshop.

I shall also bring with me a selection of paint pens (posca), fine liner pens, pencils, rubbers, rulers and sharpeners... and a selection of papers that can be used for collage. All in all, we should have plenty of materials to produce 14 masterpieces 🙂
