Live Art Demonstration - Tuesday 8th October

The first, 3 week, Autumn Art Class, has just finished.
Charlotte Stephenson took the class.
The subject was, A Harbour Scene and the medium was, Collage and Mixed Media

Our September Live Art Demonstration
was by Steve Woodhams --- Abstract in Acrylic
Short report: Steve started by explaining his technique of laying down lines in pencil and began drawing on a piece of mount board. Recognisable shapes, an egg-timer /bottle/glass were drawn lightly in pencil, overlapping and forming interesting details. He emphasised some lines with a fine marker pen, and used thicker lines to suggest shadows. He sub-divided the shapes with angular lines that went across the forms. The template drawing tools of a 7" single record/CD/mini disc were used for curves and a steel rule to ensure straight lines. The lines were purposely broken to emphasise a shattered effect. He hatched some sections to break up pattern and masked other areas, using low tack masking tape before adding acrylic paint in bold primary colours.
